I'll buy a copy of the KnowBrainer installation/training guide shortly and get reading. It 'pulls in' Dragon when voice to text conversion is required. I've no idea how well it might work, but they seem to have configured ODMS to do the file handling. I'm using ODMS only because that was the way the Dragon reseller set my system up. Our reason for buying an Olympus DS 3500 and Dragon was to convert ideas captured on the dictaphone to text - I do a lot of writing as does my better half.

I'm a complete beginner on use of these programmes, and no more than a PC user. Thank you for the warm welcome and the pointers Lunis. No guarantee it's going to help with your problem, but it did clear up a mystery Dragon start up problem on one of my systems I haven't seen any downside now doing this on several of my systems. If you ever reinstall or repair Dragon they're going to come back. That way if you ever want to run these programs you can change the name back. If you don't see a ".exe" on the filename for a file type "application" add ".crap" anyway. Then for each filename, change the end of the filename to ".crap" instead of ".exe".

Sort the folder by "Type" and for every file type of "Application"right click the icon and select "Rename". Open up the folder FLEXnet and drill down to the folder that contains a bunch of files that are application extensions. Make sure your system settings allow you to see hidden files because you will want to go to the ProgramData folder. My approach was inspired by a post of Chuck's earlier that I now can't find.

It's easier to kill cockroaches than it is to get that software off your system. We have set up our AutoTranscribe Folder Agent to automatically access and transcribe recordings from our recorder as soon as we drop it into the USB cradle (exclusive to DS-7000).Ĭhange "No" to "Know" w/ KnowBrainer 2020 PS: If you only need to transcribe recordings into Dragon, you don't even need to run ODMS. The problem seems much more likely to be an incompatibility with Skype It is highly unlikely that the problem is your microphone. In other words you shouldn't have to uninstall anything to use this microphone but Dragon has been known to have issues with Skype.

We only use it to transcribe Olympus DS-3500/DS-7000 digital recordings and if you're going to transcribe recordings, we recommend using the AutoTranscribe Folder Agent so that you can transcribe recordings in the background, when Dragon is not running. The Sennheiser SC 260 USB microphone should work very well with DPI 15 and ODMS but we are not certain why you would be using ODMS with your microphone. Welcome to the World's Most Popular Speech Recognition Forum The timing suggested that it might have played a part in my problem, but if the above proves true then I really don't want it on my PC at all. It seems to have been bundled with Dragon 15 - it at least appeared on my PC immediately after installing it, along with pushy messages to renew an Apple account I hadn't used in in years.

The inspiration came from posts on the Nuance forum which were critical of the intrusive and pushy nature of CSC - which suggested that it was a third party application in PUP territory that hijacks the stock update routine of lots of different types of software. I'd prefer to remove it if there's no major downsides. Two wasted days later the problem was seemingly resolved by disabling CSC using task manager - accessed via the msconfig command line. NET Framework issue too, and an associated error message. My issues started when I found that the new Sennhieser SC 260 headphones bought to assist the accuracy of Dragon despite being fine on other uses wouldn't work with Skype for business despite their being the Lynk/certified compatible version. There's a mention on the Nuance forum from a few years ago that it may result in a requirement to reinstall Dragon - but this would surely just reinstall CSM too? Perhaps also lose the settings that link DNS 15 to ODMS.Ĭan anybody offer a view on whether or not there are other issues to be aware of when using DNS in this sort of set up? Presuming the conclusions below are correct I'm wondering if anybody can recommend a safe uninstall tool/process that removes Common Software Manager (CSM) from Dragon 15, and if so does it result in issues? I write, and last week installed Dragon Professional Individual 15 and Olympus Dictaphone Management System (ODMS) with a view to converting thoughts captured on an Olympus DS 3500 dictaphone to text. My first post - on the advice of a helpful lady on the Nuance user forum.
